DropWorks Rums Sweep the 2025 Spirits Business Awards!
We love making quality rum, but what we love even more is knowing that you love drinking it too. When that love is backed by three gold medals at the 2025 Spirits Business Rum & Cachaça Awards—well, that just makes us ridiculously happy!
We are over the moon to announce that all 3 DropWorks Rums entered have officially won gold, proving that a commitment to craft, quality, and that teeny bit of rebellious innovation (ok… maybe a lot?!) is truly paying off.
First entry, first win for Barrel Drop.
This time last year, Barrel Drop Rum didn’t even exist. This barrel-matured Drop launched only back in October 2024, after spending up to 12 months in some carefully hand selected and bespoke-designed casks in our Nottinghamshire Distillery. Fast-forward to a few months later, we couldn’t wait to put it to the test, entering into it’s first competition.
Unlike conventional aged rums that sit in casks for long periods of time, Barrel Drop is matured for a much shorter time. Due to the high quality of the liquid which is all made from scratch in Britain and the unique combination of barrels, the approach allows the rum to absorb complex flavours and colours, resulting in a rich and layered flavour profile, despite the shorter maturation process. “As soon as we tasted the liquid, we knew it was delicious and we knew it was ready to share with the world” says Lewis Hayes, Founder of DropWorks Rum Distillery.
Barrel Drop has been awarded Gold in the ‘Up to 7 Years Aged’ category at the Spirits Business Awards!
Spice Drop also scored Gold amongst the spiced rums, and Clear Drop was awarded Gold in the ultra premium white rum category.
What This Means for DropWorks
Winning gold in any Spirits Business competition is no small feat. These awards are judged by some of the industry’s toughest critics, meaning every sip has been thoroughly assessed, analysed, and potentially debated over before given the golden seal of approval.
