This 1-hour experience gives you an insight into the craft behind the cask.
Guided by one of our expert hosts, you’ll:
- Begin with a welcome cocktail crafted from our signature DropWorks rum.
- Learn the art of tasting and nosing: discover how aroma, flavour, and finish evolve in cask.
- Dive into maturation 101: explore how wood type, char level and ageing conditions shape each rum’s personality.
- Enjoy a tasting of 4 unique rums*: American Oak at Cask Strength, Portuguese Oak at Cask Strength, Barrel Drop but at 46%, plus a rare, limited edition single cask (think Sauternes, Bordeaux, Port, or Hungarian Oak finish) hand selected by our Founder & Master Distiller, Lewis Hayes.
*For example only, rum’s may vary depending on availability.
Water will also be provided, as well as a guided discussion throughout the experience, offering insight into the DropWorks way of crafting world-class rum.
To note:
This is not a distillery tour and therefore does not include the full distillery walk through. This experience is a deep-dive into cask rums. To make the most of your visit, we recommend attending the DropWorks Distillery Tour beforehand to understand how DropWorks Rums’ are made ahead of this tasting masterclass, although this is not compulsory.

A fascinating, educational, fun tour of the distillery. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable and the "tasters" were flowing🤪. However, designated driver gets to take their tasters home so no-one misses out. A great couple of hours and well worth a... read more visit.

We got a great deal on a booking for the distillery tour. On arrival at the stunning Welbeck estate, we were greeted by Darren, who showed us straight to the bar for a hot rum vocktail. Very welcome as it... read more was below freezing on the day. Around 15 people were on the tour. All offered both alcoholic or soft drinks. Darren presented a lot of great information in a fun and informal way. Darrens knowledge and enthusiasm shines through and we found the tour engaging, entertaining and learned a lot. I gound a new respect for the way this snalll company is ensuting the quality of rum making is upheld. Be prepared for quality rum. This tastes more like whiskies than the usual suspects you are used to. A fancinating look at an industry that needs our support. We travelled from Nottingham ti Worksop by train and got a taxi to the distillery. Another option would be to go to Cresswell and vusit the caves, then take a 25 min walk to the Welbeck estate. Thank you Darren and thank you all for a great product.
