He walked us through the entire rum‑making journey, from raw ingredients to the final glorious pour. We even tasted raw molasses, which was a surprise to the senses and possibly the closest I’ll ever get to licking a treacle mine.Darren answered every question thrown at him - of which there were many, because after five very generous rum samples (plus take‑home tasters for the drivers), I developed what can only be described as “Question Tourette’s.” No thought too small, no curiosity too odd.
